Steps after filling your above-ground pool:

1) Start pump and filter
2) Dip in a test strip to your pool water, check your results, and use balancers to adjust Total Alkalinity, Calcium Hardness and pH
3) Apply shock to clear the water of any contaminants and to establish a chlorine level
4) Add chlorinating tablets, chlorine granules or liquid chlorine based on pool volume and package instructions
5) Wait at least 24 hours after step 3 (adding shock) to add algaecide
6) Test your water – and as soon as your chlorine level is between 1 and 4ppm, JUMP IN!
